The
rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for
the orderly conduct of demolition derby events and to establish minimum
acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the
condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all
participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED
OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR
COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a
guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The
race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate
deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further
restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable
requirements. NO SUCH EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL
RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OR SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or
deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.
Their decision is final.
Type of Car
1. Any hardtop
automobile or station wagon is allow with the exception of the V6 front
wheel drive Lincolns and Chrysler Imperials.. No trucks, convertibles,
jeeps, hearses, or limousines are allowed.
2. NO diesel engines allowed.
Preparation of Car
1. No alcohol fuel or will be disqualified.
2. ALL glass including windshield, rear window, head and tail lights must be removed.
It is recommended and preferred that chicken wire, mesh wire or grate
be put in front of driver for his/her
protection.
3. Auto must be swept clean. No glass or metal parts, ect. Allowed in car
4. Remove chrome molding strips and bottom portion of rear seats.
5. Air bags MUST be removed from car NOT just disconnected.
6. On station wagons all rear seats must be removed, glass and inside panel removed from tailgate, and wired shut.
7. ALL fiberglass or plastic front and rear header panels must be removed.
8.
No special bumpers, reinforcements, or trailer hitches. Standard
automobile bumpers only. Welding the bumper to the frame is ok.
9.
Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. Motors must
be in stock position. Clutch and electric fans only. You can NOT have
Transmission guards, or Halos.
10. Engine guards, Pulleys protectors, & Distributor protectors ARE aloud.
11.
Radiators must remain in original position or taken off. Comparable
replacement radiators are allowed all must be flushed of anti-freeze
and use only water.
12. Transmission coolers are permitted, but only
if secured inside the car in the rear floor board and must be covered
to protect the driver.
13. CAGE: All cages must not be welded to
frame or to floor and can not extend outside the car in any way(no
kickers off the cage).. Cage must stop 6” past post/support. Rollover
bars are allowed a roll bar IS allowed. The roll bar cannot go to the
floor pans, frame or anywhere on the car body (THE DOWN BARS ON THE
ROLL BAR MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 10IN OFF THE FLOOR PANS AND IT IS
RECOMMENDED TO BE WELDED ON TOP OF THE BEHIND THE SEAT BAR). Roll bar
can go from behind the seat bar up over the roof of the car & back
into the car connecting to the behind the seat bar.
14. Drivers
door may ONLY be reinforced on the INSIDE of the car only and it can
only connect to the cage Nothing else, Drivers door seams may be welded
solid.
15. Hood, trunk, tailgate and door can be wired, chained,
3'' welds or have welded plates (3 plates on each seam....3''x3''x1/8''
max) clips can be used for hood. Hood CAN NOT be folded, packed or
reinforced.
16. Hoods MUST have 8'' or larger opening cut in it above the carburetor.
17.
Only 1 battery is required. Battery must be placed on floorboard of
driver's compartment and securely fastened and covered.. It may be
placed in the passenger seat ONLY if in battery box.
18. Front 2
body bushings may be removed and replaced with all-thread no larger
than 1''. All-thread may extend through the hood with a washer no
larger than 3''on top and nut.
19. Free suspension...NO blocking...
cars must bounce...NO truck springs. Max of 4 clamps per spring, 2
front and 2 back. NO CHAINING BODY TO REAR END.
20. NO wedging,
packing, crimping, “U”ing, “V”ing or any other modification to the
trunk or rear quarter panels !!!! or bars over or in back
windows.
21. Stock gas tanks must be removed from original position.
All tanks MUST be securely fastened to the floorboard and covered. NO
PLASTIC TANKS! Gas lines and fittings to fuel tanks must be secured and
leak proof. Only metal or rubber gas lines allowed. No plastic lines.
Electric fuel pumps allowed but must have cut off switch. In the small
cars if the fuel tank is between the front and rear axles your may
leave it under the car. No gas tank protectors, or framing around gas
tank.
22. You may have your wires painted RED with loop in it off the battery as a way of us disconnecting your power.
23.
Maximum 16 inch tires. No liquid tires. No studs or screws in rims to
hold tires on. Valve stem protectors are aloud if welded securely. No
wheel weights. Must be standard factory wheels. NO modification of
wheels !!!!
24. Cars must be numbered on top with vertical sign with
your #, and both doors to where they can be seen. In the event we have
2 cars with the same number, the first to have PAID gets to keep there
#. The other will need to choose another # and change it on there car.
25. Bumper height must not exceed 21'' from ground and must not be lower than 18'' from ground.
26. NO Rhino coating or such materials painted on the frame or finder wells, or reinforcing of fender wells in any way.
27.
Notching rear frame is ok. Welding frame on ONE side if broken is ok .
Plate must not exceed 8'' by ¼'' thick. Do NOT weld the seams of the
frame ! No packing frame, doors, trunk, or under floorboard.
28. Hump plates ARE aloud, MAXIMUM ¼ STEAL ONLY!!!
29. No banding, chaining or welding body to the frame anywhere !!!!
30.
All cars are subject to have to having a small hole cut or drilled into
the car body and/or frame if the tech official has reason to check any
area in question.
31. Only one person per car will be allowed at the
inspection area when cars are being inspected. THIS RULE WILL BE
STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!
32. JUST BECAUSE IT IS NOT LISTED IN THESE
RULES DOESN'T MAKE IT LEGAL. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT A RULE, CONTACT
US BEFORE YOU DO IT. NOT HAVING A COPY OF RULES IS NOT AN EXCUSE.
33. All cars must pass inspection before being allowed to derby.
34.
This season to help the officials keep track of the cars NOT running
anymore, each car will need to have a wooden stake duck taped to the A
post of the car. When the car has been counted out, the driver WILL
take the stake off the A post and put in the car to keep it from
falling onto arena floor. The stake will need to be painted SAFETY
ORANGE.
